Caroline Kennedy Stumps For Obama… Is It Just Me?… Or Does She Seem Very, Very Sad…

She says “People keep telling her” that Obama reminds them of her father… I’m sure she doesn’t look at him and “see”… or “feel” JFK… Caroline is about my age… I was a little boy when JFK died… She has admitted that her kids influenced her to back Obama… So I expect she’s doing what a good mom would do by standing up for what her kids believe in. But it’s not fair to drag her into this mess… She is America’s Princess… The closest thing we have to royalty…Look at the sadness in her eyes… Do you detect even a trace of a real, unforced smile? The poor thing is damaged goods… She’s been through life’s shredder over and over again. How many times has she met Obama? Enough to feel her beloved daddy in his presence? I think not.

  • Before I write the next statement… I feel the need to put it out there to my readers that I truly hate to bring this up …but I feel it must be said.
  • Is it possible that Caroline believes as her mother did… That there really is a curse… and that by conferring upon Barak Obama the mantle of JFK and RFK that was so briefly carried by JFK, Jr…. That maybe she’s doing him a disservice?

I’m sure she’s heard his speeches and people tell her that he’s such a great orator that he reminds them of JFK. But there’s real differences between Obama and JFK… By the time JFK ran for president… He had fought WWII and come out a bona fide war hero… He was a Pulitzer Prize winning author… He’d been all over the world and had as much foreign policy experience as other politicians twice his age.

    The man beat Richard Nixon.

Now I know there’s lots of folks that would like to compare Hillary to Tricky Dick… But that’s stretching it even for the most rabid Hillary Hater.

And when it comes to all of the hullabaloo about the energizing of the youth movement due to Obama’s ability to channel JFK… I offer this.

The vast, vast majority of the Baby Boomer generation’s kids and grandkids have a less than minuscule amount of knowledge of JFK’s life, times and presidency… Oh sure… I don’t doubt that they feel something… some urge to get up, participate and do something… Our world is in trouble. But I think it’s disingenuous to try to pigeonhole that feeling into something that amounts to nostalgia for us old folks.

John F. Kennedy came and took us to the moon… Robert F. Kennedy came and took us… Well… We’ll never know will we? But it sure felt good and we all sensed that we were headed into a brighter future. But we voted for them honestly… Our hearts lead us in the right direction.

If these kids sense something… Let’s let it grow of its own accord… Let’s not taint it with our longing to go back to a future that we were denied.

If Obama is the catalyst to take this generation forward as JFK did… Then he’ll find his voice and the groundswell will carry him… He won’t need to don the mantle of JFK, RFK or MLK to make it happen.

But we Boomers need to handle our business and look very seriously at what it’s going to take to fix the mess we’ve allowed to accumulate. JFK is a pleasant memory and a dream for us… Let’s keep it that way. The reality is for us to look long and hard at the period of time that we lived and voted through and decide how we’re going to put into office someone who will without doubt inherit two wars, a recession if not a depression, a looming global climate disaster, an energy crunch, China’s ascendancy and the overall decline of America as a world political power.

I, for one don’t want to see the second coming burnt or burnt out dealing with the mess that our two current political dynasties created. Hillary thinks she can do what her husband did by fixing the mess that one of the Bush boys got us into. History shows that they (Billary) are the only administration since 1969 to balance the budget. (LBJ & Nixon!!) I say let them do it again! Fix the economy and the Osama mess and then get out of the way! And do it while giving Obama the power and leeway that was given to Al Gore as Vice President. Let him spread his wings. Let him swim in the deep end and prepare himself (and us)for the great leap that he seems so capable of inspiring… All the while not having to expend his gift on fixing the mundane mess that could so rapidly sap his energy.

We’ll all be a bit older and wiser by then…
