Scenario- Little Frankie is beaten daily by his alcoholic and abusive father, who rapes his sister. He takes his frustrations out on a black kid at school while screaming the n word and other profanities.

1957- The mother is afraid of leaving the father for fear of complete social isolation. Other men assume that the wife is getting what she deserves and little Frankie is lucky that his father loves him enough not to spare the rod. His sister is smart enough not to tell anyone because she knows they won’t do anything and she’ll be punished for “lying”. Meanwhile at school all of the other kids are helping Frankie beat up the black kid while the teachers who still want segregation look on approvingly.

2007- The father goes to jail, and is raped repeatedly for being a child molester ( a guard told the rest of the inmates). Frankie is stopped by teachers and put in therapy to stop him from becoming like his father, he eventually apologizes to the black kid and realizes that ethnicity doesn’t matter. The wife and daughter also attend therapy and through hard work and loving hands they are able to live a happy life without reprisal from the rest of society.

The moral is there were no good ole days, stop deluding yourself.

Of course then again… In 2011… Little Frankie probably immerses himself in some violent video game then goes and shoots up the whole damn school. He didn’t get stopped by teachers because they mostly got laid off due to budget cuts and he got no therapy because the family lost their medical insurance when dad’s factory closed in 2007 and the state budget cuts aren’t allowing new sign ups for welfare medical… And because Obamacare is being held up in the courts… The poor kid stands a zero chance of getting any help he needs.

But the really weird thing about this whole silly exercise … Is that someday… Somewhere… Somehow… Someone will think that THESE are the good old days.
